Dark moods are not the emotional feelings you have when you are disappointed because you could not meet deadlines or you have lost a client or anything like that.

This is all about disliking your work and loosing all interest in every work-related issues.

You no longer want to think of your business inquiries, ongoing projects and answering your phone calls from current clients becomes a nagging task or even a taboo.

Suddenly, your work becomes the source of your discomforts and overwhelming anguish that you never want to be associated with it.

Some time-consuming activities like watching of TV, going out to gym and attending unnecessary social gatherings become your hobbies.

This is a natural feeling that can attack any freelancer but if it turns out to be a recurrent pattern, then you have every reason to worry because soon or later, you will loose your freelancing business since you will lack enough motivation to push on.

Before you start loosing your job to somebody who is waiting for you to fail, here are some tips which can help you through your devastating dilemma which needs to be tackled promptly.

1 . Instead of living to work, work to live

In a freelancing business, you are expected to work hard in order to succeed because it requires not only working smart but also promoting your business.

Because everybody using the internet is doing his/her best to improve individual skills, you need to work hard in order to survive the competition.

This either does not dispute fact that you should make your life meaningful in doing other activities that makes you happy.

Have a clear schedule regarding the number of hours you are supposed to be working as you spend the rest on your social life.

The number of hours you are to work may be influenced on the nature of services you offer and the tools used.

You must strike a fair balance between the hours spent in working and your financial requirements.

The problem of working as if it is the only thing in your life is that; you are likely to dislike what you are doing especially if it is not out of passion. The moist important aspect is your real life hence; your work is meant to sustain it.

2 . Understanding the importance of your Work

The motivation behind taking your work should never be lost sight of because it always gives you the strength to keep going on even when the going gets tougher.

Understanding the reason why you had to take up your work reminds you importance of your job is especially if you have not achieved your objectives.

Others can do this by writing reasons why they took up their jobs in ‘dream boards’ so that every time they look at them, they rekindle the passions they had when they started.

Some of the reasons may be lifestyle reasons or financial related. Be clear on them and you can regain the interest required to continue working.

One way of keeping your interest intact is assessing your success and failure depending on the medium you will wish to use.

Many freelancers will wish to track how their money accumulates as they work.

Find the right program to track your success and failure and this may be effective in keeping you focused on your work.

Keeping a closer observation on how numbers rise and decline can keep you keep you charged up.

This does not mean working so much on your objectives and long time goals to end up overworking yourself.

4 . Having a Healthy environment around you

You need to be comfortable while working in order to concentrate on projects.

A clean and healthy surround is necessary because this will make you relaxed. Your working table must be neatly arranged and kept.

Make sure that you are having nice ventilations for fresh air and your working tools must be kept very clean.

Keep you family photographs around your table to avoid feeling isolated. Eliminate all the negative factors that might drain your energies unnecessarily.

5 . Be positive about your Work

Keeping a positive feeling is important. It is true that your work has offered you a lot in your life among other things including financial security and basic needs.

Think of the nice things that you have achieved from your work and this will make you indebted to the success of your business.

Love your work and think of it proudly because this will always influence your interests and be grateful because there are many who are struggling to even have a simple source if income but in vain.

Your positive thinking is a great asset in at your disposal to dictate the success of your work.

6 . Be willing to improve your skills through training

Dark moods are easily stimulated by getting stuck on similar jobs regardless of how good you like doing your work.

To avoid this, learn as many skills as you can in order to heighten your relevance in freelancing because; you can comfortably take different jobs when you get stuck and without having to affect the flow of your income.

Diversifying your skills is the killer tip of succeeding in freelancing so does not hatch all your eggs in one basket.

7 . Automate your activities

If you can automate as many of your activities as possible you will save a lot of time and eliminate chances of feeling nagged into doing some boring basic things which may bog you down.

If necessary, have your routine work reduced by having a programmer develop utility programs and macros for you.

8 . Work on your social life

Let not working tie you down into living in solitude. Have fun when necessary with your friends and go out with you family if you have one and have good refreshing moments.

You need to be a real person with feelings and affections hence; never tie yourself down and isolate yourself from the company of your loved ones.

As highlighted above, working is supposed to help you sustain your life and not viceversa.

In conclusion, let dark moods be treated as normal freelancing occurrences. They come and go but leave you still alive to continue working.
